Murky Waters

Canned on 07/23/26, tasted on 8/11/26. Color is orangey with a hint of brown, and completely hazy. Off White, medium size bubbly foam, of average retention. Aroma is awesome, tropical fruit with citrus notes, and a hint of dankness, The flavor notes are: pineapple, various citrus, and stone fruit (peach mostly). First taste impression is awesome. The tropical fruit notes and citrus match up with the aroma. I'm not sure if its a citrus blast first and then pineapple, or the reverse. Maybe some peach and mango, and again a slight dankness. The citrus is probably closer to pink grapefruit rather than oranges. Carbonation, body, and mouthfeel all appropriate for the style. Perfect balance of sweet and bitterness (this is wehere many beers miss the mark by varying too far in one direction or the other). Overall an excellent example of a NEIPA. The fruit flavors in both aroma and taste blend into a perfect balance. Also note, all the previous info about this beer indicate only Citra and Mosaic hops, but the text on the can also states the use of Nectaron hops. I'm sure the third hop punched up the flavors in this beer, maybe going from a good to great beer. Anyway, Riverlands is one of the Chicago breweries that knows how to make hazies...check them and this brew out, you wont be disappointed.

Purchased at Riverlands on 07/24/2026 their anniversary bash. Date on can of 07/23/2026. Yeah, fresh. Purchased because I had on tap and it was delicious. Pours cloudy with almost half a glass of white foam via a vigorous pour. Great lacing as the meanders back, becoming somewhat frothy. Aroma is delightful. Mango, papaya, orange, and sweet peach. Each scent takes turns enticing the sense. Taste is more very ripe fruits - sugars come out with mango and papaya leading. Peach picks up in the middle through to the finish. Some orange too. Light hop burn bitterness. Medium mouthfeel with a delicate touch on the carbonation, harmoniously. Juicy through and through. Hard to believe it has almost 6 years to the day since I last reviewed this beer. This is a no doubt have it again. Enjoy!
