  • Purchased at Flight Bottle Shoppe on 2021-05-20. Not date on can.

Picked this up because the can is pretty cool but I am a huge fan of Willy Wonka. This brought back memories of watching that movie on one of the five channels on television back in the day. Simpler times.

Pours opaque with a beautiful mocha form to cover. Good retention. No lacing.

Aroma is more complex after a few minutes in the glass. Chocolate, peanuts, and strawberries. The strawberries smell like fresh preserves: the highlight of the aroma.

Taste has the strawberries coming through early into the middle, almost lingering. Some chocolate and peanuts but both compliment the strawberries. There is a rough finish to the beer that lingers. It is roasted, almost burnt, peanuts. Not fun.

Big body as this is thick and creamy. Light carbonation in the mouth but a spritzy carbonation on the tip of the tongue. Not cloying.

In spite of this beer not agreeing with me, I will still be buying beers based on label art as my collection continues to grow. Enjoy!

Beer Notes
  • Do Oompa Loompas get a lunch break? We know which beer they would certainly enjoy, SCRUMDILI-UMCIOUS BAR PB&J! Imperial Milk Stout chocolate, peanut butter, and jam variant. The milk stout is packed full of Ghana cocoa nibs from Ethereal Confections and peanut butter, raspberry and strawberry, some light caramel, vanilla and milk sugar. The aromas of cocoa, peanut butter and raspberry dance in the glass better than any Oompa Loompa could. The sweet kiss of chocolate, raspberry, vanilla and a hint of peanut butter at the end fill this extremely velvety smooth beer.
