Purchased from Tavour. $5 mark up for the bottle for their services. I don’t think that is bad. No date on bottle.
Poured into a Hop Butcher stemmed glass. Half-inch of white foam with small bubbles. Floating. No lacing. Clear. Deep gold color.
Aroma is saison earth and herbal. Behind it is sweet, white/green grape. The grape reminds me of wine. Sweet is really strong but not caramel. Vinous and a sense of dryness.
Taste is a wow because of the unexpected. I don’t know if I know how to describe it. The late front is with white wine grape and sweet. Then the beer pauses in the middle becoming almost void on the taste buds before overwhelming with sweet, vinous and tart that linger, deeply. The very beginning of this beer is paper thin before the explosion takes it places
Effervescent carbonation. Medium body. Dry.
I have never had vermouth before and I don’t if that would have prepared me for this bottle. This is unique and unquestionably one of the wilder rides a beer has ever taken me on. I don’t know if I did the tasting justice. Not for the faint of heart or someone that likes strict guidelines to a beer. I don’t know if another one would surprise me as much as this one. But I would have it again and I wouldn’t - the first time is always the best time. Enjoy!
