  • The bottle calls it "The Hefeweizen!" so the pour was as expected: golden, unfiltered, about a finger of white head, and, this one, had quit a bit of carbonation. Retention is average.

Wheat taste isn't as strong on the palette as it was on the nose. The slight hint of lemon carries through (made with lemongrass - what is it?). Light body and mouth feel. High carbonation tickles the nose.

The smell of wheat overwhelms the old nose. Maybe a hint of lemon.

Krieky, this goes down way too easy after mowing the lawn on a 90 degree day with high humidity! I think if I continue to drink these light beers on hot days, I will end up liking them all. They are made to refresh; I am refreshed!

Hefeweizen = wheat beer and that is my favorite during the summer months. 'Nuff said.

  • Aroma: Citrusy. Initial taste: Very clean and refreshing. The lemon, citrus taste is very subtle, unlike some brewers tendency to go over the top on "extra" flavors. Overall: Here it is, the beginning of summer, and in the upper midwest we've got to savor our short time in the sun.

So I find myself deep into the enjoyment of summer brews. Wich by the way, seem to be one of the largest categories, in terms of offerings from brewers.

I loved this beer. It's crisp, dry, and the lemon-grass adds just the proper level of refreshing wisp of flavor. And, I'll add that Circus Boy was a pleasant surprise in the Hefeweizen category. This style's German yeast characteristics of clove, banana, and spice can get distracting to me. But, MH has created a great brew that I could drink all through an 85-degree day at Wrigley, even with multiple extra innings. Get outside and enjoy some Circus Boy.
