Lena Brewing

When you drive up to a place expecting expecting a little facility and it completely blows you away, welcome to Lena! I had a Coldstream Lager to along with the Mother Clucker beer battered chicken sandwich. Coldstream was a solid beer for the style while the Clucker blew me away. The size of the chicken to the bun was close to 2:1 - outstanding. Served piping hot, tender with a side of homemade coleslaw. Super nice and helpful but they only have two ordering stations - for food and beverage at the bar. I could see when they get busy that this could be a huge bottle neck. Service was super helpful and friendly. This is a huge place - with multiple direction a patron can go to sit down, including a very large outdoor sitting area. Unfortunately the seating area was all in the sun without umbrellas. Warm and homey inside but the pure size and almost feeling detached based on seating, left me wanting some. For the area, the price was right on the mark. The chicken sandwich was $15, which seemed high, until I saw the size of the sandwich. Easily splitable. This isn't hard to see when you are near, the drive is beautiful due to the rolling hills of north-west Illinois but it is off the beaten path. I would like to go back when they have an event. Compared to where I live, Lena, IL is a way out of the way, but if I was ever in the area again, I would visit. Enjoy!
