  • Aroma: Rich, deep roasted caramel and cocoa. Very appealing.

1st Taste: Malty sweet then the hop bite that's not totally balanced.

Overall: The smell and initial taste promises great things, that don't totally show up. There's a proper medium mouthfeel for a Brown. It does promise a complexity of flavors like chocolate, spice, coffee, brown sugar, grapefruit, and molassases. Everthings present, just not in the right mix or strength.

  • Poured clear with an inch of frothy, tan foam. Good retention with sticky, web-like lacing beginning from the onset.

Aroma is caramel and toffee malts. A resinous hop that seems to also be a little citrus and pine mix. Brown sugar baby.

Taste has a definite malt backbone. Caramel, toffee, with a lot of sugar - brown. There is a touch of hop flavor to balance. A bitterness begins to develop in the after taste.

Light body which I thought would be larger based on the color. Carbonation is toward the lighter side.

Like several of the other beers I have had from Terrapin tonight: good but not great. There is some off balance to the taste. Easy to drink though. I am hoping the next few change my mind. Enjoy!
