Poured clear into my eagerly awaiting snifter. A single finger of bubbly foam that wasn't much for hanging around as it quickly became just a light coating on top of the beer. Lacing was minimal at best.

Aroma had some beautiful hops and a caramel sweetness to help balance. A deep waft let you take in the alcohol. Butterscotch and toffee are also present as dissected the brew.

Sweet malt meets the taste buds initially in the taste. Spice and a complex mixture of malt hit in the middle with the malt continuing through the end. The end is also accompanied with pine hops and some alcohol.

A fair amount of carbonation with a rather light body for the amount of alcohol. Some creaminess and a definite heat going down.

I am just starting to venture into the world of barley wines; this seems to be a good started. FFF always has a good amount of hops, so that was expected along with the huge malt bill to get that ABV. There is a fair amount of balance but I thought maybe a little too much heat for a beer that has sat for a year. Enjoy!
