  • Poured dark as midnight so no idea if it was cleared. I will presume it was. Nice thick, brown foam with some retention and really nice lacing.

Aroma has bourbon, vanilla, and chocolate notes. Big aroma. Sweetness like molasses was also present with coffee. Like candy for the sniffer.

The taste is great. Coffee and chocolate (cocoa) bitterness up front with bourbon characteristics in the middle, finishing with vanilla and sweetness. A minor hit of alcohol in the aftertaste is present. Not overpowering and actually befits the beer.

Big mouth feel but lightly carbonated with a tinge of heat from the alcohol: great combination.

This is a wonderful beer. There are still some bottles at the local beer store, on sale, and I have clearance from the boss to grab another. I shall today. Shared this beer with my neighbor a day after their second child was born to celebrate. I plan on drinking more just because. Enjoy!
