  • Purchased at Flight Bottle Shoppe on 2022-04-15. It has an "enjoy by" date, which I hate, but it smudged, so I can't read it.

Pours a beautiful dark brown opaque with a huge mocha foam that covers. Good retention, nary any lacing.

Aroma is complex: cream, roast, cocoa, earth, and burnt ashiness. Lovely aroma for such a low abv beer.

Taste doesn't stray far from the nose. Starts mild and build throughout with a stiff bitterness from the hops, roast, and brunt ashiness. Roastiness is the powerhouse but it is joined by earthiness, smoke, ash, and toastiness.

Body light end of medium which is aided by an amped up carbonation that leaves that popped bubble feel on the tongue. Dries, completely.

Suggested by the owner as a good, straight forward offering of a style. He was right on target. A welcomed break from all the hops. Hopefully a kick in the right direction to re-branch out on styles, leaving my comfort zone behind. My only complaint is the large, lingering bitterness in the finish. I would definitely have this again. Enjoy!

Beer Notes
  • Don’t come expecting a pastry, you wont find it here. Extremely simple at it’s core. A traditional representation of pale ale malt, flaked oats and roasted barley. That’s it. Roasty, creamy, low ABV deliciousness that will make you appreciate the little things.
