  • Based on what I can read on the bottle, this is a can from 2008-12-22. My first thought is that I will have to try a fresh can based on my opinion of this one.

Pours opaque, thick, and like used motor oil from the days when I changed my own oil. Initial pour had a thick, brown, dense head that almost looked like chocolate. Retention was okay with lacing coming in sheets that was somewhat sticky.

Aroma is chocolate and dark fruits up front. Pleasant and not over powering. Coffee seems to come here and there too. No real hop, roasted malt, or alcohol scent. Sweet.

Taste small alcohol at the very end. A nice chocolate, coffee, maybe even roasted flavor in the finish. Sweet at the end too that stays into the after taste.

Not huge in the mouth bug big enough to know the beer isn't kidding around. Carbonation is on the thin side.

For such a big beer not that bad of a drinker. The sweet stayed with me since this was an older beer, maybe younger the hop would balance a little better. Nonetheless are really RIS that doesn't make you want to stop at just one. Enjoy!
