Pours opaque with a luscious, frothy, thick, tan foam that overwhelms the glass with an aggressive pour. Retention is above average but not much lacing going on.
Aroma is on the slight side. Roasted malt along with grains but that's about all I get.
Taste is almost sweet up front with a roasted malt carrying throughout. Some mellow chocolate and really no coffee though.
Medium body but not quite that amount of carbonation. Drying.
In spite of the ABV, this beer is easy on the drinking side. The subdued nose and flavors don't really make me think that I am throwing back an imperial stout - which I don't like. A RIS should be a big in your face beer, this is not. Enjoy!
