  • Purple wax adorned the top of the bottle. I recently picked this up but, based on when it was bottled, it might be on the downside of the hop flavor/aroma.

Poured cloudy with a nice slice of tan, frothy foam. Retention was average for an IPA with some spider web like lacing throughout. I was surprised at how cloudy the beer was but that might just be filtering.

Aroma is citrus hops with sweet and bread/doughy malt backbone character. I would imagine that the malt comes through more now than when the beer was a little younger.

Taste has some big bitterness in the end but it is only there to really balance the huge malt bill of sweet and dough. More malt backbone than most IPAs (age?). Even though there is a lot of bitterness, it pleasantly doesn't last and begs you to take another sip.

Medium body and carbonation. The carbonation compliments the beer well.

Very drinkable. I just wish I could have had this when it was in its prime as I am sure more the hop balance would of shown its beautiful head. Either way, still a very good beer and I will continue to try and get some of their IPA series: maybe a trip to Flossmoor is in store today? Enjoy!
