A vigorous pour gives way to a chill haze beer that has almost an entire pint glass full of off-white, thick foam. Retention is really good with the foam becoming quite frothy as it recedes. Thick, sticky lacing ensues.
Aroma is caramel, bread, and sweet malt for the backbone. Hops seem to be a mix of fruit and pine.
Taste is a bit of bitter bite up front and lingering through to the end. Finishes up after itself quite well while the sweetness comes through to help balance in the middle and lasting. Hops are pine and citrus mostly but others seem to be there: fruit and floral. Almost open for interpretation.
Body is light as is the carbonation.
This beer seems to get a knock in some circles as it isn't a bold over the top pine/citrus west coast hop bomb. They are correct. What it is though, is a smooth, refreshing, easy drinking ipa that has a nice, well rounded hop profile over the top of a malt caramel backbone. Drinkable, heck yes. Only real knock for me is how thin the beer does come across, otherwise: tasty. Enjoy!
