Zibi Hops: Profile & Substitutions

Description

If you think European hops are strictly for spicy pilsners and earthy lagers, Zibi is here to change your mind. Emerging from the Polish Hops Institute, Zibi is a "New Wave" variety designed to shatter expectations. It was bred specifically to bridge the gap between high-impact bitterness and the lush, tropical aromatics usually reserved for New World hops.

What sets Zibi apart is its "Stone Fruit" signature. While many modern hops lean heavily into citrus, Zibi offers a deep, velvety sweetness. It brings a sophisticated tapestry of ripe mango, sun-drenched peach, and honeyed mirabelle plum to the glass. It’s a robust, resilient hop that allows brewers to craft high-impact beers with a distinctly succulent fruit profile.

Substitution Tip

If you can't find Zibi, the best alternatives are Amarillo®, Citra®, Iunga, or Zula.

Did you know?
  • Dwarf variety hops grow shorter in height than traditional varieties but, importantly, produce the same yield. This combination makes harvest easier.
Explanations
  • Storage: is based on the percentage of alpha acids remaining after 6 months at 20*F.
  • Oil composition percetages are based on the total percentage of oil in the hop. Example: 10 - 20% means that for the specific oil it is 10 - 20% of the overall oil make up.
